● Money is the backbone of life. Through it, people’s livelihoods are organized and their lives are made sound.
Money belongs to God alone. He has appointed man as his successor and made it a trust in his hands, as:
– Allah Almighty says: {
Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successors}.
– Allah Almighty says: {.. and give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you}.
● The true believer realizes that Allah Almighty has placed rights in money that must be fulfilled. Among these rights are:
* 1- Zakat; It is one of the pillars of Islam, as:
– Allah Almighty says: {Take, [O, Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah ‘s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing}.
– Allah Almighty says: {And those within whose wealth is a known right * For the petitioner and the deprived}.
– When our master, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, sent our master Muadh bin Jabal, may رضي الله عنه, to Yemen, he said to him: “Inform them that Allah has enjoined on them charity to be taken from their rich and given to their poor.”
– Zakat is associated with prayer in the Holy Quran 82 times.
– Zakat on money is worth two and a half percent (2.5%) if the money reaches the quorum. The quorum here is equal to 85 grams of gold at the price of the day on which zakat is paid.
– Our master Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him, fought those who refused to pay zakat during the wars of apostasy.
– Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them, says: There are three verses associated with three, and one is not accepted without its context.. {And obey Allah and obey the Messenger}; So whoever obeys Allah and does not obey the Messenger, it will not be accepted from him, {And establish prayer and pay zakat}; So whoever prays and does not pay zakat, it will not be accepted from him, and {Be grateful to Me and to your parents}; Whoever gives thanks to Allah and does not give thanks to his parents, it will not be accepted from him.
* 2- Alms; Alms are what a person gives in charity, regardless of what he is obligated to do. Charities have a great reward and great good, as:
– The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, says: “Charity extinguishes the wrath of the Lord and wards off an evil death.”
– The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, says: “There is not one of you except that Allah Almighty will speak to him without an interpreter between him and him. Then he looks to the right side of him and sees nothing but what he has presented, and he looks to the left side of him and sees nothing but what he has come forward, and he looks in front of him and sees nothing but the Fire in front of his face, so beware of fear. Hellfire, even if it’s half a date.”
– Allah Almighty says: {The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing}.
– The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, says: “There is not a day on which the servants rise in the morning except that two angels descend, and one of them says: O Allah, give a successor to the spender, and the other says: O Allah, give the one who takes possession damage.”
● One of the most important aspects of spending is the Sunnah of Sacrifice, to provide relief to families, the poor, and the needy.
If someone is unable to carry out the steps of the sacrifice himself, it is permissible for him to delegate someone else on his behalf through sacrifice deeds.
* And you who do not find enough to sacrifice, give good news, for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sacrificed on your behalf, as when he sacrificed and slaughtered two salty horned rams, he said: “O God, this is on behalf of those of my nation who did not sacrifice.”
Our Lord, please accept from us that you are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, and protect our Ummah and raise its banner in the worlds.
Allah bless all of you and all your families..
